When you rent a vehicle on Getaround, your rental is covered by our insurance which provides auto insurance to cover Drivers and vehicles in the event of an accident, vandalism, or theft. A rental needs insurance to protect the driver and the car, and without it, you cannot book a car.

When you rent a vehicle on Getaround, your rental is covered by our insurance, regardless of the protection plan you purchased. Our insurance program provides auto insurance to cover Drivers and vehicles that meet our Eligibility Requirements in the event of an accident, vandalism, or theft. Coverage applies for the duration of each Reservation, from start to finish, and includes liability, collision, and comprehensive (e.g., fire, auto theft, vandalism) coverage.

Getaround always provides insurance/ liability coverage for Drivers and Owners meeting our eligibility requirements for incidents that occur during an active rental.
Additionally, all rentals include 24/7 roadside assistance, which takes care of the car and the passengers in case of a breakdown or accident during a trip. Beyond this, a car's coverage is based on your purchased plan.

Could I be denied coverage on my car hire?
Whatever happens, you must comply with all our insurance conditions. You may be denied insurance coverage if:
- You don't remain the main driver throughout the rental (secondary drivers are not allowed).
- If you violate our terms of service.
Please note also that some damages are not insured, and any of these types of damage will be your responsibility:
- Damage inside the vehicle (seats, glove box, etc.).
- Fuel errors.
- Loss of keys.
- Any breakdown consequent to a misbehavior on your behalf.
What is the deductible on a car rental?
The deductible is the maximum amount you would pay for any damage to the vehicle. The remaining repair cost is covered by the insurance.
The deductible amount varies, depending on:
- The car category.
- The protection plan you chose for your car hire (Minimum, Plus, or Premium).
- The type of damage.
Please note: the deductible does not apply to interior damages. If you damage the vehicle's interior, you will pay the full repair costs.
