Profile verification is a mandatory step to be covered by insurance and to allow you to access cars on Getaround.
This rule applies to all types of rentals (Getaround Connect or meeting the owner in person), as well as if you wish to be added as a secondary driver.
Check if you meet the eligibility criteria.
Verification is done exclusively on the Getaround app as soon as you send your booking request (and sometimes it may be required beforehand).
Go to the "Account" tab in your app, and click on "Verify my profile".
You can also access this from your rental page once your booking is confirmed.
💡 Our advice: Start the verification process as early as possible to avoid any last-minute stress.
Have your original documents ready. Photocopies, screenshots, or reports of lost/stolen documents will be systematically rejected to prevent fraud and identity theft.
Renting with a Norwegian license? Your profile will be verified using BankID. No documents required unless you plan to rent a car outside of Norway.

Check the reason for the rejection in the "Account" tab of your app (or in your emails), then restart the verification process after correcting the issue.

If your departure is imminent and your profile is still being processed or is blocked, don't hesitate to contact our customer service so we can assist you.
Note: If your profile is definitively rejected (for example, if you are unable to provide a mandatory document), the owner will unfortunately not be able to hand over the vehicle. You will then need to cancel the rental(option available at the bottom of the rental page). Rest assured, in this situation beyond your control, you will be fully refunded.
Once approved, your profile remains verified for 3 years.
This duration may be shorter if your license expires in the meantime, or if you modify your personal information on Getaround.
Once this period has passed, you will simply need to complete the process again.
