Driver - Getaround Review Moderation Policy

Article updated on 10/29/2025

Why reviews matter

Reviews help people book with confidence. They set expectations for vehicle condition, handover, communication, and the overall experience on Getaround.

How reviews work

  • You have 14 days after your rental ends to leave a review.
  • Reviews are double‑blind: neither side can see the other’s review until both are submitted or the 14‑day window ends. Then both publish at the same time.
  • Once submitted, reviews may be subject to verification before publication. Verification usually takes less than 48 hours.
  • Once published, reviews can’t be edited. This ensures transparency and prevents manipulation of published opinions.

Who can review & when (eligibility)

  • Who:
    • Drivers and owners who shared a booking.
  • When:
    • If the trip was completed, both can leave a review.
    • If the owner is responsible for the cancellation of the rental.

How to leave a review

  1. Go to Your rentals → [Relevant rental] → Review.
  2. Leave a global rating for your experience.
  3. Select one or more tags to highlight key points (e.g. cleanliness, car condition, access & return instructions, compliance, parking accessibility, communication, availability, other).
  4. Add a short public comment describing your experience.
  5. Optionally add private feedback (shared only with the other party and Getaround).

What you can include

Keep it relevant and practical:

  • Experience overview: brief summary of your trip: what worked, what didn’t, and whether you’d rent again.
  • Car: condition, cleanliness, equipment, accuracy vs. listing.
  • Pick-up & return: instructions, timing, parking/access.
  • Communication: responsiveness, clarity, attitude, reliability.
  • Pricing clarity: what matched or differed from expectations.
  • Constructive tips for future renters (optional).

What isn’t allowed

  • Harassment, hate, threats, explicit/violent content, or profanity.
  • ePersonal data (PII): full names, phone numbers, home/work addresses, license plates, payment details, or any personal information about the other user.
  • Extortion or incentives (e.g., “I’ll change my review if…”), fake reviews, or conflicts of interest.

Right of reply & private feedback

  • The other party may post one public response to your review to add context.
  • Private feedback (for drivers) is shared only with the other party and Getaround (not public).

Reporting a car safety issue

You can report a car safety problem directly from the review flow. Our teams will investigate and may pause a listing during checks.

Why your review may not be visible yet

Reviews publish after both sides submit or when the 14‑day window ends, whichever comes first. If the other party hasn’t reviewed yet, you’ll see it go live at the end of the window.

How we verify and moderate reviews

  • We publish reviews only users who have completed a rental or whose rental was canceled by the other party can leave a review.
  • We use automated and manual checks to detect policy-violating, fake, or incentivized reviews.
  • Reviews may also be hidden or removed if they contain illegal content (defamation, hate speech, etc.) or do not comply with French law.
  • Moderation may occur before or after publication.
  • We don’t offer incentives for reviews.
  • Reviews that violate this policy may be removed, and repeated abuse may lead to account action.
  • Users can request removal by reporting a review writing to bonjour@getaround.com. Each report is assessed according to our moderation rules

Transparency note

Getaround verifies that reviews come from genuine rental experiences and moderates them to remove content that violates our policy. All reviews—positive or negative—are published once verified.
