Insurance is at the core of Getaround’s service. Back in 2010, it took us one year to secure a contract specifically tailored to peer-to-peer car rental. Since then, we have introduced dozens of improvements to the insurance coverage, as we have convinced leading insurance companies of the viability of our concept. Getaround is now offering the best coverage available on the peer-to-peer car rental market.
Thanks to its partnerships with leading insurance providers like AXA and If..., as well as roadside assistance companies such as ARC Europe and Viking Assistance Group, Getaround offers some of the most comprehensive coverage available in the peer-to-peer car rental market.
Our partners
Our insurance cover has been designed to protect you in the event of any damage to your vehicle, or damage or injury to a third party caused by a driver during the rental. Your no-claims bonus won't be affected.
In the event of an accident, the driver pays the repair costs up to the amount of the deductible, and the insurer pays the rest.

Insurance conditions
We accept 'normal' cars weighing less than 3.5 tons. Luxury cars, motorbikes, camper vans and quad bikes are not accepted. Find out more about the vehicles accepted by Getaround.
You are also responsible to verify that the renter complies with the renter insurance conditions.

Getaround’s insurance covers accidents (both car damage and bodily injuries), theft and fire.
If you are responsible for an accident, the deductible is the maximum amount of money you’d pay per damage to the vehicle. You can lower the deductible by choosing the relevant protection plan. Learn more about insurance deductibles.

Roadside assistance
