Owner - Owner - How to rent out your motorhome

Article updated on 03/18/2026

This article covers what you need to know as a motorhome owner on Getaround. Here you'll find what sets motorhome rentals apart from regular car rentals — from listing setup to insurance.

Listing quality

A good motorhome listing gives drivers the confidence to book. Always specify sleeping capacity (number and type), whether the motorhome has a toilet (type), shower, electrical hookup and water capacity. Mention any driving licence requirements.

Describe special equipment in the listing description — awning, bike rack, camping table and other accessories included. Good photos of both the exterior and interior make a big difference.

Key Exchange and delivery

Motorhomes always use Key Exchange — not Getaround Connect. You meet the driver in person at the start and end of the rental.

We recommend doing a short walkthrough of the motorhome's features at the exchange: water pump, electricity, gas, toilet and any special solutions. You can also offer delivery to the driver if convenient.

Approve or decline bookings

You decide who rents your motorhome. When a driver sends a rental request, you can review their profile and choose to approve or decline. Keep in mind that fast response times and a high approval rate improve your visibility in search results.

Pricing

We recommend seasonal pricing for motorhomes. Set a higher price during the summer months (May–August) and lower in the shoulder season. Motorhome bookings tend to be longer than regular car rentals, which means fewer handovers per revenue earned.

Adjust your prices regularly based on the demand you see in the market. You can also use smart pricing, which adjusts the price automatically based on demand — you set the minimum price yourself.

Cancellation policy

Motorhomes have their own cancellation policy that accounts for bookings often blocking long calendar periods:

  • Within 1 hour of payment: the driver receives a full refund
  • 14+ days before start: the driver receives a full refund
  • 7–14 days before start: you receive 50% of your earnings
  • Less than 7 days before start: you receive 100% of your earnings

These rules give you as an owner better predictability, especially in peak season.

Insurance

Your motorhome is insured through Getaround when rented out. Permanently mounted equipment — kitchen, bathroom, bed, awning, roof tent — is covered up to NOK 40,000. The requirement is that the equipment is securely fastened and locked, and that the vehicle's value is at least NOK 80,000.

Loose items such as camping chairs, portable grill and camping table are not covered. Getaround roadside assistance is included in all rentals.
