Owner - URSSAF Social security contribution withholding

In accordance with French law, Getaround is required to automatically deduct and remit your social security contributions directly to URSSAF starting January 1, 2027.

Who is affected?

Withholding at source applies exclusively to owners operating in France registered as auto-entrepreneurs (micro-entrepreneurs) with URSSAF.

If your affiliation scheme is standard self-employed (indépendant) or the general scheme (régime général), you are not subject to this automatic deduction.

How it works for auto-entrepreneurs

Previously, Getaround paid out an amount, and you were responsible for paying your contributions to URSSAF yourself. Going forward, the amount transferred to your bank account will be revenue minus social security contributions.

You will no longer need to declare the revenue earned on Getaround to URSSAF yourself, we do it for you. (Note: If you have other sources of income, you must continue declaring those manually).

Timeline and process

  • Rate transmission (starting December 2026): URSSAF transmits your status and withholding rate to us. You can check this rate on your Payment page.
  • Withholding at source (starting January 2027): The exact amount of your contributions is deducted with each payout. Details are available on your Transactions page, on your receipts, and in your Excel exports.
  • Remittance to URSSAF (starting February 2027): Getaround reports and transfers the funds to URSSAF. On your Gross revenue to declare page, you will find a summary of the declared revenue and contributions paid.

Special case for new users (joining in 2027): For your initial payouts on the platform, URSSAF may not have transmitted your withholding rate yet. In this case, payouts will be processed without deduction, and you will need to declare these first earnings yourself.

Payment settings

In your Payment Settings, you can configure:

  • Your URSSAF status (Auto-entrepreneur or other). Please note that this information will update automatically based on details received from URSSAF.
  • Your calculation base (Total gross earnings or amount excluding VAT) depending on whether you are subject to VAT, to ensure the correct revenue is reported. If there is a setup error, you can still correct your reported revenue directly with URSSAF.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What happens if I qualify for ACRE or a tax exemption?

You don't need to do anything. If you benefit from ACRE or any other rate reduction, URSSAF will calculate your reduced rate and send it directly to us. Getaround always applies the rate communicated by URSSAF.

What should I do if the withholding amount seems incorrect?

Getaround strictly applies the rate sent by URSSAF and cannot modify it manually. You must contact URSSAF directly to update your details. They will send us your updated rate during their monthly updates.

What is included in the revenue reported to URSSAF?

The revenue transmitted to URSSAF includes all your platform earnings:

  • Gross rental and delivery income (including Getaround service fees)
  • Insurance-related income
  • Distance charges (additional mileage and mileage packs)
  • Various compensations received (cancellations, late returns, cleaning, refill fee, ticket processing fees)

This does not include reimbursements for out-of-pocket expenses or costs incurred, such as damage payouts, missing fuel/charging costs, toll fees, or traffic fine reimbursements.
