Owner - Protecting yourself against fraud

While our systems filter out the vast majority of fraud attempts, malicious users may occasionally try to impersonate Getaround (phishing) to obtain your personal or banking information.

How to identify a fraudulent message?

  • In-app messaging: Official communications from Getaround come exclusively from a profile labeled "Official Account." Unlike your usual exchanges with drivers, it is not possible to reply to these official messages. If you receive a message without this badge or if the interface allows you to reply, it is not from us.
  • Emails: Check that the sender's address ends in @getaround.com, @mail-community.getaround.com, or @mail-eu.getaround.com. Pay close attention to spelling mistakes or extra characters in the email address.
  • Website URL: Before entering personal information (password, bank details, ID documents), always ensure you are on the official app or website (e.g., 🔒 https://getaround.com). Fraudsters often use similar but slightly modified web addresses.

The 3 Golden Rules for staying safe

  • Stay on the platform: Do not communicate with the driver outside of the Getaround messaging system.
  • Keep it private: Never share personal information (phone number, email, credit card details, etc.).
  • Be cautious with links: Do not open any links or download attachments if a message seems suspicious.

What to do in case of an incident?

  • If you shared your banking details: Contact your bank immediately to report a fraud risk, block your card, and dispute any unauthorized transactions.
  • If you logged into a suspicious site: Change your Getaround password immediately on our official website.

Reporting suspicious behavior

Help us protect you by reporting suspicious messages, fraud attempts, or any fraud you have experienced.

  • If you have a booked rental: Go to your rental page > Contact us > Send us a message > Claims and emergencies > Report a driver.

  • Otherwise, report suspicious behavior here.

Our teams will intervene promptly.
