Fuel rules
The cost of fuel is not included in the rental price. If you returns the car with less fuel than was recorded at the beginning of their rental, you will be charged the difference, and a small portion will be retained by Getaround. If you return the car with more fuel than at the start of the rental, the difference will be charged to the owner, and a refund issued to you based on the current fuel prices.
Why might there be a discrepancy in the fuel levels ?
The Getaround Connect device is able to read much more precisely the fuel level in the car. Depending on the type of fuel gauge shown on the dashboard, the fuel level shown could be between 50-75%.
How can I report this discrepancy?
When picking up and returning the car, you may notice a difference between the fuel level they see on the car's gauge and the level recorded by the Getaround Connect device shown in the app.
At the beginning and end of the rental, you will be asked to take clear pictures of the fuel gauge on the dashboard. These pictures will be used as documentation for any contestation made regarding the fuel levels.
What happens after I report the fuel level ?
The Getaround team verifies all contestations made during the check-in and check-out, comparing the fuel level detected and recorded by the Connect device, with the photographs submitted during the contestation.
