Guide to toll charges

Discontinuing Getaround Autotoll™

Historically, all cars listed on Getaround in the US were subscribed to our Autotoll™ system. However, this system was shut down in early March 2024. When the Connect® car passes through a toll plaza that uses an electronically charged open lane tolling, the toll will automatically be registered and paid based on the car's license plate. These tolls are then attributed to the Owner if they happen outside of a rental, or to the Driver during a rental.

This system is being shut down due to several issues: - Drivers pay high fees to support this system, leading to complaints and contestations - Autotoll was blocking owners from obtaining better tolling rates from their local providers, hurting revenue and creating a worse - Many owners requested more flexibility in how they manage their tolls - Autotoll was causing issues for owners who have toll transponders or plate-based subscriptions of their own

How does it work?

You will be charged for tolls at the end of your rental. Please note that toll information on rentals and amounts listed may be adjusted up to 3 weeks after the end of your trip. You will be notified if any adjustments are made.

Where can I see the tolls billed to me?

Tolls can be found on the Rental Page: - Go to Rentals - Tap on “See completed rentals” - Look for the rental in question - Tap on the arrow on the “Total Rental Price” - Click on the “i” emoji beside the rental toll charges - List of tolls will appear
