Driver - Understanding the search results

Article updated on 11/14/2024

This article explains what affects the order of the results so you can easily find a car that fits your trip.

How search works

When you start a search, you enter an address. Adding dates is optional: you can browse results without selecting a time.

Getaround ranks all relevant listings and shows them in an order optimised for your search.

You can then narrow the results using filters such as car type, fuel type, gearbox, or equipment.

What influences the order of results

Search results mainly depend on three factors:

  • Proximity: cars closest to the address you enter usually appear first.
  • Listing reliability: good ratings, a clean car, responsive owners, and low cancellation rates improve visibility.
  • Price and quality of the listing: competitive pricing and a complete listing with clear photos and useful details help a car appear higher in the results.

Using filters to find the right car

Filters are one of the fastest ways to focus your search and find a car that fits your trip. Here’s how each filter can help you:

Price

Set a price range to only see cars within your budget.

Car type

Choose the type of car that matches your situation: a small city car for short distances, a family car for travelling with others, or a van for carrying large items.

Note: Utility vehicles, vans, and minibuses only appear in search results when the corresponding filter is enabled.

Pick-up method

Choose the pick-up experience that works best for you:

  • Getaround Connect: unlock the car directly from the app, with full autonomy and 24/7 access.
  • Key Exchange: meet the owner in person for a key handover.

Note: In some large cities, the Getaround Connect filter is turned on by default.

Instant Booking

See cars that you can book immediately, without waiting for an owner’s response. Ideal if you’re in a hurry or want to secure a car quickly.

Features

Select from all available equipment: baby seat, air conditioning, GPS, USB port, snow chains, and more.

New cars only

Filter to show only cars under 5 years old if you prefer recent models.

Transmission

Choose between automatic or manual transmission, depending on your preference.

Fuel

Useful if you care about fuel type.

Car brand

Select a specific brand if you already know what you’re looking for.

Why search results may differ between drivers

Two drivers searching from the same place might not see the same cars. Your past trips, interactions, and preferences can influence the order of the results shown to you.

New listings

When a new listing goes live, it appears in relevant search results near its address, even before it has ratings or past trips. This helps you discover new cars available in your area.
