You can rent various types of cars and vans on Getaround. However, to be listed on the platform, cars must:
Other vehicle types aren’t covered by our insurance, so we don’t accept them on the platform (motorcycles, boats, buses, motorhomes, etc.).
You can find cars with a trailer on the platform, but you can’t rent a car and attach your own trailer because it won’t be covered by our insurance.
On Getaround, there are two types of cars:
Getaround Connect cars: Unlock the car using your smartphone, without having to meet the owner. Get going in just a few minutes!
Meet owner cars: Meet the owner of the car, who will check your documents and give you the keys directly.
With Instant Booking, you can book a car immediately without having to wait for the owner’s confirmation. Cars that allow Instant Booking appear in search results with a lightning bolt symbol. You can also filter your search to only see these cars.
We require owners with Instant Booking activated to always keep their calendar up to date. If you book one of these cars, your rental is automatically confirmed.
Some owners offer delivery of their cars, when you search for a Meet owner rental, you will see in the search results how many cars can also be delivered to your search location.
The owner will deliver the car to your location, and at the end of the rental you will arrange with the owner where to return the car, more information about starting and ending your meet owner rental can be found here
Delivery is available for rentals booked more than 24 hours in advance, and for a rental duration of more than 48 hours.
Any costs related to the delivery of the car are included in the rental price, owners should never ask you to pay for delivery outside of the Getaround platform.
Please note this feature is not available for Getaround Connect cars.
Certain cars on the platform are adapted for those with impaired mobility. While we’re not yet able to filter these cars during search, the listing descriptions will indicate whether the car is right for you.
Cars are divided into three categories (eco, comfort and premium/privilege) depending on model and age. Most cars belong to the eco category, whilst the comfort and premium/privilege categories are reserved for high-end cars. Different levels of access and deductibles apply depending on categories, which will be detailed under the description of the car during your booking. More information about insurance deductibles.
