Article updated on 11/07/2024

Car Protection Plans are now available in Illinois & Georgia!

As an owner, Car Protection Plans offer the opportunity for you to take control of your earnings by choosing which level of coverage is preferred, which corresponds to how much commission you earn from your rentals.

You can change your plan anytime from your car’s page.
The plan will apply from the next rental booked. Any rentals already booked will stay on the previous plan.

All plans come with:

  • Physical damage protection up to $50,000 for each car, less the deductible.

  • Additional liability coverage for owners up to $1 million.

  • Liability insurance for drivers up to the minimum financial requirements of the state where the accident happened.

  • Personal injury and uninsured/underinsured protection for drivers, in states that require this coverage.

-Getaround pays all eligible damage costs above the deductible.

Deductible

The deductible is the most you’ll pay for any damage covered by your plan.

Rental base rate

The rental base rate is based on the car’s prices per day, the rental length, and discounts for long rentals. The remaining % is our service fee.

Liability insurance

Liability insurance protects you if someone gets hurt or property is damaged.

Eligible damage

Eligible damage is damage that is covered by your protection plan.

Physical damage

Damage to the car via accident, fire, theft, or vandalism.

Personal injury

Injury to drivers and anyone else occupying an insured car.

Uninsured/underinsured protection

Cover for injuries caused by a driver who doesn’t have insurance, or a driver whose insurance doesn’t cover the full cost of an injury claim.
