Getaround works with Axle to instantly verify your insurance. Axle allows you to share your insurance information quickly and securely with Getaround ensuring you’re properly covered for your rental.
Axle will only release the data you consent to sharing and uses bank-level encryption to secure your data end-to-end.
Just like your personal vehicle, insurance coverage is required for Getaround’s vehicles as well! This feature allows drivers to save money on rental costs by using their own insurance to lower the cost of their Protection Plan. By using Axle drivers can ensure they’re properly protected and their vehicles are protected in the event of an incident.
Getaround requires that your policy is active in the carrier’s system and effective throughout the duration of the rental. If you receive this message, check with your insurance carrier that your policy is active and the expiration date is after the end date of your rental.
We understand the frustration here as you can’t necessarily control your policy term. Some carriers “pre-renew” policies ahead of the renewal date, and others wait until the renewal date to update it in their system. Unfortunately, there’s no way to know that the policy will be renewed, and in order to ensure you and the owner’s vehicle are properly protected, Getaround requires that the policy will be effective throughout the entire duration of the rental.
You can always choose one of Getaround’s protection plans for peace of mind, but if you’d like to use your own insurance you will have to call your insurance carrier and see if they can renew your policy early.
In order to ensure that you and the owner's vehicle are properly protected in the event of an incident, Getaround requires that you must be listed on your insurance policy. Getaround will match the name on your profile to the name on your policy. Be sure that they match exactly - middle names or abbreviations can cause this validation to fail.
If they don’t match, you can fix it by contacting your insurance carrier to update the name on your policy or by updating your Getaround profile.
In order to ensure that you and the owner's vehicle are properly protected in the event of an incident, Getaround requires that you have liability insurance. All states require that you carry minimum financially required limits. Any additional coverages such as comprehensive or collision ensure protection for you while operating the owner’s vehicle, while liability covers the other party. Yes! You can update your password using the “Reset Password” link within Axle (Login > I don’t know my login information > Reset password) or on your insurance carrier’s website, and then return to Axle to complete the process.
Getaround requires a direct connection to your insurance provider through Axle to ensure that your policy is active and up-to-date. Unfortunately, documentation like insurance cards or declaration pages are not accepted as these documents do not always reflect the current status of your policy. For the smoothest experience, please use Axle to log into your insurance account directly.
