Insurance when driving Getaround

Getaround provides liability coverage for Drivers and Owners meeting our eligibility requirements for incidents that occur during an active rental. This coverage does not apply in instances of commercial hire except for Drivers enrolled in the Drive with Uber Program.

When a Driver enrolled in the Drive With Uber Program is online with Uber as a driver, while on a Getaround rental, auto insurance is maintained on their behalf by both Getaround and Uber. Uber’s insurance is outlined on its website and can be found here.

Getaround provides primary liability coverage for Drivers enrolled in the Drive with Uber program during a Getaround rental except in circumstances where an Uber rider is accepted via the Uber platform or Uber passengers are in transport. In addition, Getaround provides excess physical damage protection as outlined in the terms of service.

Drivers enrolled in the Drive with Uber Program may purchase a protection plan at checkout to reduce their responsibility for damages to an owner's car. More information on Protection Plans can be found here.
